This entry is part 17 of 40 in the series The (d)SP0T

Siam Square is a hot spot for fashionistas, electronics lovers and just about every other kind of shopper you can conjure up. It is a collection of malls linked together by various skywalks and on-ground walkways with fountains and mist sprayers. This modern collection of structures is one of the largest shopping centers in the world, and home to the largest mall in Asia. The architecture is something to behold, as most malls are 5 stories or more, with some sitting in the base of high rises that continue on up. One of the most interesting aspects to the architecture is how they kept an open feeling to such deep buildings, allowing sunlight to penetrate down many levels. This goal created some large rooms and wide open cores flanked by escalators going every which way. This was accomplished with many styles, but the end result was the same, a layered look through the layers of the malls.
